Heads of Nigeria and South Africa Professional football leagues are two of the seven members appointed by the CAF President, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad into an Adhoc Committee for the establishment of a CAF Interclubs calendar for the transition season of 2018/19.
Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) and NFF 2nd Vice President Shehu Dikko and his counterpart from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) of South Africa are the only heads of league organising bodies in Africa appointed into the committee which has been scheduled to have its first meeting in Rabat, Morocco on November 3.
Other members of the committee include CAF Executive Committee members led by 3rd Vice President Fouzi Lekjaa, Tarek Bouchmaoul who is the Chairman of the CAF organizing Committee for Inter-Clubs Competitions and management of club licensing and Ahmed Yehia, the Vice Chairman of the Inter-Clubs Committee. Others are the CAF Deputy General Secretary, Anthony Baffoe and Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu.
The Committee is expected to among others establish the fixtures of the interclub competitions for the transitional 2018/19 season scheduled to commence November 2018.
Dikko is also is a member of the CAF Organizing Committee for inter-Clubs Competitions as well as FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
This latest appointment further underlined the growing influence and recognition of Nigeria within the global football circles since the Election of NFF President Amaju Pinnick into CAF where he is now the 1st Vice President.

Nigeria’s record league titleholder, Enyimba of Aba is the highest ranked team among the country’s four entries in the CAF Confederation Cup, which draw will hold today in Cairo, Egypt.
The 2003 and 2004 African champion is in the same pot with MFM’s conqueror in the Champions League play-off, USM Alger (Algeria), Supersport of South Africa and Hilal Obied of Sudan.
Plateau United and MFM, which dropped from the CAF Champions League to the Confederation following their defeats by Etoile du Sahel and USM Alger respectively in the last play-off round, are in Pot C, while Akwa United is in Pot D of the play-offs.
Plateau United and MFM could face a team from Pot B or D, while Akwa United could be pitched against a team from Pot A or C.
The 16 teams that finished runners-up in the CAF Champions League first round and the 16 Confederations Cup first round finalists, have been placed in four pots depending on the CAF’s five-year seeding criteria.
Four clubs relegated from the Champions League were seeded (Pot A) and top four ranked teams from the Confederations Cup (Pot B).
The remaining 12 teams from the Champions League were drawn into Pot C and the others from the Confederations Cup into Pot D.
The first draw will be to determine the matches between teams from Pot A and Pot D. The procedure will be repeated four times.
After, a ball from Pot B will be drawn against Pot C to determine the matches. The procedure will be repeated four times.
Once completed, the remaining eight teams from Pot C will be drawn against other eight from Pot D.
One ball from Pot C will be drawn against another ball from Pot D. The procedure will be repeated eight times to complete the fixtures.

Nigeria stars Victor Moses and William Troost-Ekong have been included in a 30-man shortlist for the African Player of the Year award for 2017.
The nominations for the awards, which will now be sponsored by Nigerian energy company Aiteo Group, were announced on Wednesday on the official website of the Confederation of African Football.
Both players helped the Super Eagles qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup with a game to spare despite their team being drawn in the toughest African qualifying group with Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia.
Moses also won the 2016/2017 English Premier League title with Chelsea after playing a key role, while centre-back Troost-Ekong has started the new season in fine form with Turkish club Bursaspor.
Other nominees for the award include Senegal and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, current African Player of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund, and Eric Bailly of Cote d’Ivoire and Manchester United.
CAF also named 30 nominees for the African Player of the Year Based In Africa prize with Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi, who has been an important player for CAF Champions League finalists Al Alhy of Egypt included.

CAF announced that the winners will be decided by votes from the head coaches/Technical Directors of African FAs, members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee and a panel of media experts.
The Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.

Issa Hayatou's 29 year reign as CAF president has come to an end. He lost the election today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia when he faced his strongest opponent in the history of CAF presidential elections, Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar to see who will rule football on the continent for the next 4 years.
Ahmed Ahmed defeated Hayattu with 34 votes to 20 votes making him the CAF president for the next 4 years..
