Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been conferred the award of Grande Chancellor of Imo State.
Professor Osinbajo was conferred the honour at the Imo Merit Award ceremony which held in the state on Friday, May 17.
At the ceremony, Governor Rochas Okorocha who was the chief host, said the Vice President was being honored for his selfless services to the Nigerian people.
He urged young Nigerians to study and follow the footsteps of the Vice President who he described as a humble man with numerous achievements beneath his belt.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday took his door-to-door campaign to the Hausa community leader of Agege, Alhaji Musa Dogonkadai.
The leader, who doubles as the Chairman of the Chieftaincy Council of Arewa in Lagos State, alongside members of his council, received the vice president amidst fanfare in his palace in Agege.
The vice president who arrived at the palace at about 4pm was greeted by a large crowd who chanted President Muhammadu Buhari’s name in different songs as they escorted him to the palace.
A meeting, which was held in closed-door between the vice president and the leader with his council, lasted for about 45 minutes.
Addressing newsmen, the Treasurer of Arewa Community in Agege, Alhaji Abdulkareem Abubakar, said the members felt happy that the vice president decided to pay the leader of Arewa Community a visit.
He said they would vote massively for All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 elections because they wanted continuity of good governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
“We are very happy with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to Arewa Community leaders in Agege. We are excited to see the vice president.
“We are enjoying this government. We don’t want money; what we want is peace, which we are enjoying from this government. We are enjoying peace in Agege and Lagos State and we want it to continue.
“Because we want continuity of good thing and peace, we are going to vote for APC candidates in 2019 elections. We are going to vote for Buhari, Osinbajo, Sanwo-Olu, Obasa, Ogundimu and other APC candidates.”
Among those in Vice President Osinbajo’s entourage was the Senior Special Adviser to President on Political Matters, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu and Executive Secretary for Transportation, FCT.
Vice president Yemi Osinbajo is at Ceddi to watch Chief Daddy, a movie produced by Mo Abudu. The movie which features A-list actors such as RMD, Ini Edo, Kate Henshaw, Linda Ejiofor, Joke Silver, Patience Ozorkwo, Falz, Nkem Owoh and many more, was released on December 14th.
The tickets for the movie have been declared free at the cinema were the VP would be seeing the movie, “with some young Nigerians.”

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has sacked Lawan Daura, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Spokesman of the acting president, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement.
The Statement reads:
“The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director-General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”
No reason was given for the action but Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer in the organisation. It isn’t clear now if the move was due to the early morning siege of the National Assembly by the DSS.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the commencement of a 72-hour joint operation to restore order in Apapa and its environs after truck drivers had caused traffic gridlock and made vehicular movement impossible in Lagos.
He further urged Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) to speed up the decongestion of Apapa Port.
According to the Vice President’s directive, the operation would be carried out by the Police, Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Air Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps ,NSCDC, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency ,LASTMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency ,LASEMA, Container truck drivers, National Association of Road Transport Owners, NURTW, National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas ,NUPENG, and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria .
Osinbajo landed first at the Tin Can Island park, flown in by a Nigerian Navy chopper, and accompanied by the Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and senior Naval and Police officers.
He walked close to the traffic to see the situation of things and then proceeded to the Five Star Berth at the Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, where he met with relevant officials and security officers.
The plan is to, within 72 hours, take all the necessary and appropriate steps to restore order to the traffic situation and speed up work on the port decongestion.
Similar orders were made in the past. They all failed to clear the mess of the tanker drivers.
Justice Maurine Onyetenu of a Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, Wednesday, granted leave to two Nigerians, Kanmi Ajibola, a lawyer and Sulaiman Adeniyi, a human right activist in their suit, seeking to compel the National Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Muhammadu Buhari. The Presidency, however, claimed not to be aware of Wednesday’s court order.
The duo had three months ago written to both the lower and the upper chambers of the National Assembly on the need to impeach President Buhari, citing alleged constitutional breaches by the president and threatened that they will approach the court if lawmakers fail to act accordingly.
But when the lawmakers refused, they headed to court, asking for an order of mandamus to compel both the Senate and the House of Representatives to start the impeachment proceedings of President Buhari.
The two Nigerians had hinged their arguments on four grounds on why the National Assembly should impeach the Buhari. In the motion ex-parte, the duo are contending that in flagrant violation of the 1999 constitution, President Buhari contested the election, won and was sworn in as the president on May 29, 2015 without possessing the basic constitutional requirement, which would have made him qualified for the contest of the election.
They further alleged that President Buhari in flagrant violation of section 137 (1) (j) of the 1999 constitution presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the purpose of the 2015 presidential election that brought him to the office of the president.
The applications in the suit, are further contending that “In the light of the 4th respondent’s placement to continue in the office as the president, he has no certificate and basic requirement upon which this placement to continue in the office can be placed.”
They accused the president of treating the orders of the court with a great disdain and abuses the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at will, particularly from the angle of the observance of the federal character as contained in section 14 of the constitution.
Justice Onyetenu, in her ruling, granted the applicants leave to move and argue their suit for an order of mandamus, compelling the National Assembly commence the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
The court adjourned till October 30, 2018 for the hearing of the suit.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation donated 150 fully kitted operational cars to the Nigeria Police Force yesterday Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

“Today, we are deepening our intervention in security with the donation of these 150 fully kitted operational vehicles to the Police Force.
These vehicles will support the Nigeria Police Force in surveillance, crime prevention and promote law and order.”

Corroborating this viewpoint, The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris expressed the appreciation of the Police Force to the Aliko Dangote Foundation, with a commitment to utilize the cars for the purpose they were donated.
He urged Nigerians to go about their business lawfully, noting that The Police Force is now well equipped more than ever before to fight crime across the country.
The Bayelsa State government has decried the apathetic attitude of the Federal Government to the directive of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that oil companies relocate their headquarters to states in which have their major operations.
Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (retd), who stated this in Yenagoa when members of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), led by Victor Nwokolo, paid him a courtesy call, said Bayelsa has been losing revenue in taxes because oil firms operating in the state pay their taxes to other states where their operational offices are located.
Johan, noting that the Bayelsa State government was not happy with the situation, urged the committee to find solutions to the non-implementation of the directive and issues of environmental degradation plaguing the state.
“Staff of most of the oil companies will simply come and work in the state and return to cites such as Lagos or Abuja where they are located. The Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, even took it up with the Vice President. There were some executive statements made to that effect, but up till now we haven’t seen anything. We are interested in that,” the Deputy Governor complained.
Jonah, reiterating the state government’s position that host communities must be accorded a minimum of 10 percent equity participation in the PIB, lamented that oil resource communities are daily exposed to the hazards and dangers of massive environmental pollution and degradation caused by extractive activities of the oil companies.
He decried the effects of gas flaring in Bayelsa in particular and the Niger Delta in general, stressing that the people living in those environments are faced with the heat emitted from the gas flaring stations.
The Deputy Governor disclosed that Governor Dickson had commissioned some experts to study the impact of environmental pollution on the people of the state.
In his remarks, Nwokolo explained that the visit of the committee to relevant states of region was critical to the PIB under consideration by the House.
