The Nigerian Army, at the weekend, commenced its online registration for the 77 Regular Recruit Intake for both Trades and Non Tradesmen and women into the service.
This is contained in a statement issued by Director Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman.
The registration will end on Friday, February 9, 2018.
He said the exercise which is aimed at selecting able bodied Nigerians will take place in all states across the nation.
The statement added: “Interested applicants must be Nigerians between the ages of 18 to 22 for non-tradesmen and women, while tradesmen and women must be between 22 to 26 years by March 1, 2018.
“Applicants are to visit the Nigerian Army official website http://recruitment.army.mil.ng to apply online.

– Applicants shall be of Nigerian origin by birth and possess National Identity card.
– Applicants must possess a minimum of 4 credits in not more than 2 sittings in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB. One of the credits must be in English language.
– In addition, Tradesmen & Women Applicants must also possess OND/Trade Test/City and Guild certificate.
– Non-Tradesmen & Women Applicants must be aged between 18 – 22 years by March 1, 2017.
– Tradesmen & Women Applicants must be aged between 18 – 26 years by March 1, 2017.
– Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and must not be less than 1.68 meters tall for male and 1.62 meters tall for female.
– Applicants must print their completed online forms, attest it and submit it at the examination recruitment centres during the screening exercise period.
– Knowledge of additional Nigerian Languages other than mother tongue is an added advantage.
Speaking during the monthly conference with senior police officers on Wednesday at the Force headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, revealed that Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 10,000 policemen every year to address the shortfall in the numerical capacity of the Force.
The IGP who made the revelation shortly after receiving Insps. Amina Wilfred and Rachael Danjuma for winning the 19th IBB Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship, said the recruitment was necessary to strengthen the operational efficiency of the police to combat crime in the country.
According to our source, he called for better funding for the police, saying the nation needed to address the parlous financial standing of the force for enhanced operational efficiency.
“We can succeed in community policing when we address the ratio of one policeman to 400 citizens. Recruitment of rank and file had been stopped and there is no where you can have an effective police if you don’t have enough policemen to police the population and that is one of the areas we are addressing now.“This administration has come up with the recruitment of 10,000 police officers and we are going to ensure, because the President has given us approval, every year we are going to address this 10,000 policemen and these strategic issues we need to address to be able to tackle effectively the efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
The IG called on the National Assembly to speedily pass the security trust fund bill to ensure adequate funding of police operations, and expressed concern over the increasing spate of kidnappings across the country, stressing that it was beyond what the police alone could handle.
