Yemi Alade fondly known as Mama Africa has stated that she is at the same level as the likes of Wizkid and Davido and anyone who thinks otherwise can go ask the show promoters who have all the numbers.
In an Interview on Hot 98.3 Fm, Yemi Alade spoke on a number of topics ranging from happenings in the country, adjusting to stardom and comparisons within the music industry.
The Mama Africa first came to prominence when she emerged winner of the Peak Talent Show in 2009, but she really hit the limelight with the release of Johnny in 2013, which elevated her into a household name, so when asked about how she has dealt with the fame and recognition that has since some her way, she replies;
''I have not adjusted, I have just adapted because I don't think this growth involves me changing who I am, that is like the most important thing, it used to be difficult but not it is my way of life''.
Adding that her mother still serves as a check and balance in her life.
Yemi Alade is one of the busiest African artists as she recently concluded the European leg of her Black Magic tour, which saw her transverse major European cities, with a successful grand finale concert in the Netherlands.
Speaking on the message she tries to pass at every opportunity to perform outside the continent, she says;
''I just concluded my 13 cities European tour and the turnout was amazing.
I have pretty much been touring for over three years, it's a big privilege for me... For me now, I think it is beyond the music, I think people also come out for what I stand for, the fact that I stand for Africa unapologetically and originally as I can.''
The successes of Wizkid and Davido, performing at sold out concerts globally have been well documented and publicized, while that of artists like Yemi Alade, despite also shutting down major events rarely gets an equal mention, but the comparisons do not bother her as she believes there is really no number one.
''What I have done with this kind of career that puts you in the limelight and keeps you vulnerable to everybody's opinion, is I just have to make sure my opinion is paramount, it is number one...
I respect everybody, we all inspire each other in this industry... there is actually no number one because your top five artistes in Nigeria that are the biggest in Africa can shut down the exact same capacity, the same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down.
So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth.. why don't we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers?''
She also announced that she will be going on her tour of Canada at the end of July and is working on her concert back home in Nigeria soon.
It’s not a lie that both Wizkid and Davido are ruling in 2018. Shutting down populated arenas, dropping chart-topping hits and getting all the publicity they deserve.
These guys are in the best time of their lives. While controversies still swirls around Wizkid’s private life with fans accusing him of dating Aunty Tiwa, Davido seemed to have found his Assurance with Chioma.
While both artistes have been involved in back to back hits, it seemed fans are just sticking to one hit song however.
For Wizkid, Soco is still making waves for him and all of a sudden after dropping Nowo, Fake Love and Commando, the Soco wave is back and fans are feeling the heat worldwide.
Over the weekend on Twitter, the song came back with singer, Odunsi claiming It’s the biggest song this year.
Fans have fallen deeply in love with Soco and much appreciation has to go to Wizkid and the whole Starboy team for such a wonderful song. Davido on the other hand is still generating a buzz with Assurance.
After purchasing a Porsche automobile for his girlfriend, Chioma, he also dared guys to provide assurance for their girlfriend.
Celebrities praised him for such a bold move and the week was crazy for Davido and Chioma.
He signed endorsement deals and also informed us he’s buying a private jet soon.
Well, it turned out to be a fable but Davido is still benefiting from the buzz Assurance created.
While we don’t know if Davido bought the song or not(Since he rarely writes his own songs), Assurance might be said to be the biggest song so far this year.

WIZKID Is Set To Perform At 2018 World Cup Wizkid has been mentioned as one of the performing acts at the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup which is scheduled to hold today, Thursday, June 14th, 2018; in Russia.
The report has it that the Star boy would be performing alongside other International music acts like Will Smith, Nicky Jam and Era Istrefi, who will be performing the official World Cup theme song.
Congrats to Wizkid on the honor of becoming the first Africa artist to perform in the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony slated for today.

Their son, Boluwatife launched a clothing line for kids today, being his 7th birthday, and people are saying it’s bad for him to not have posted about the business today at least to create more awareness and sales.

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has disclosed the details of a conversation he had with superstar Nigerian musician, Wizkid.
He made the revelation in his keynote address at the Georgetown University African Business Conference in Washington DC, United States on Saturday.
Saraki said that the artiste, who is widely regarded as Nigeria’s biggest music export, told him how he (Wizkid) sold out 40,000 tickets for a concert in Gabon, a Francophone country.
The former Kwara state governor said
“Wizkid told me that he was astonished that Gabonese fans could fill the venue of his concert despite not understanding a word of his lyrics.
“Our Entertainment industry, which has grown tremendously over the last 20 years – provides us with value addition and a comparative advantage – as our artists have risen from local champions to global recognition.”
Senegalese rapper Akon and Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah are the two most followed Africans on the social media channels Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to the African Social Media Power Report: Top 50 Footballers and Entertainers released on Friday, January 26, 2018.
The Power 50 has a combined following of almost 400million, a number that is more than half the population of Europe and twice the population of Nigeria, Africa’s most populated country.
The Power 50, which weighs the social media influence of African pop culture stars and football personalities, was compiled by Lagos-based sports communication company, CampsBay Media.
“In a world where social media continues to play a big role, the influence of African entertainers and footballers, the crème of popular culture on our continent, continues to fascinate and that is why we have compiled this list,” said Lolade Adewuyi, chief strategist at CampsBay Media.
“We have tried as much as possible to gather the top African pop and sport stars into the list in order to show their influence across the three key social media platforms of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. We hope that the Power Report will be an annual ranking to gauge their growing impact as well as enable market planners and researchers to see the possibilities inherent in their influence.”
Personalities from 12 countries are represented on the list with the top 10 places filled by Akon, Salah, footballer Didier Drogba, Moroccan stand-up comedian Gad el Maleh, South African comedian and TV show host Trevor Noah, Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o, Moroccan actor Jamel Debbouze, Nigerian singer Davido and South African actress Charlize Theron.
On the African Social Media Power Report: Top 50 are 13 actors/actresses, 14 singers, nine rappers, eight footballers, four comedians and two music producers/DJs.
