The National Assembly is set to assess the level of implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017-2021 (NACS).
Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari has summoned all relevant agencies.
Heads of Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are expected to present detailed reports on their fight against corruption and successes achieved so far.
The session is billed for Wednesday June 9 and Thursday June 10, 2021 at the New Senate Building.

DAILY POST gathered that the presidency is angered by the labeling of the Buhari government as corrupt.
“The NASC mandates MDAs to submit reports as at when due. I can tell you that the compliance so far is only about 10 percent. This is not good”, a source said.
Some of the MDAs billed to attend the NASS sittings include the Ministries of Justice, Finance, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Others are Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) among others.
In 2016, Nigeria joined the Open Government Partnership (OGP) founded in 2011 and now has 78 member countries. The Buhari administration later formulated the National Action Plan (NAP).
Nigeria is implementing 16 commitments which include fiscal transparency, anti-corruption, extractive transparency, inclusiveness, and public service delivery.
The NACS was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in July 2017.
Soon after, the government developed a National Strategy Framework on 5 pillars: corruption prevention; public enlightenment; ethical reorientation campaign; sanctions and recovery enforcement; proceeds of crime management.
In September 2019, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami announced President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of the enforcement of a harmonised Anti-Corruption Strategy.
The order seeks to enhance the efforts to recover stolen public assets and ensure better collaboration among anti-graft agencies.
The Asset Recovery and Management Unit (ARMU) in the Ministry of Justice serves as the secretariat for the NACS.
