The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Western Zone on Thursday appealed to Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as well as the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to provide relief materials to affected victims of an inferno.
The IYC said this will help to cushion the effects of the inferno on the victims of the community.
The IYC, in a statement signed by its Information Officer, Lugard Izuokumor, said she is not happy with the manner the Delta State Government abandoned the victims without relief materials.
Dr Okotete urged the affected victims to be strong and hopeful.
He also appealed to the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency to also provide relief materials for the victims to ameliorate the effects of the inferno on them.
The appeal comes after several persons were made homeless as fire razed over 60 houses in Egbemene Island (Fenigbene) Community in the Ogbe-Warri Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Details as to the cause of the fire were still sketchy at the time of this report.
Our correspondent reports that some of the affected victims are now domiciled in churches and primary school buildings.
Their properties were completely razed by the fire.
At the time of this report, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is yet to respond to the plight of the victims.
