The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President,
Femi Adesina, has taken to his official Twitter page to reveal that President
Muhammadu Buhari has bluntly rejected the proposal of same sex marriage from
the United States.
When the issue was discussed during his USA visit, Mr
President rejected the offer by stating that sodomy is against the law of
Nigeria and abhorrent to our culture...
“The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday. PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture,” Adesina said via Twitter on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.\
US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda
Thomas-Greenfield had earlier said during a live-web chat with journalists on
July 13 that the country (US) would compel Nigeria to recognize same sex
unions.
President Buhari is in the US for a four-day official trip
and met with President Barack Obama on Tuesday, July 21.
