The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has said that all the
5,602 intending pilgrims from the state have been transported to Saudi Arabia
for this year’s pilgrimage.
The Public Relations Officers of the board, Nuhu Badamasi,
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano that the pilgrims were
transported by Max Air in 10 flights.
He said the last batch of pilgrims, numbering 508, departed
Malam Aminu Kano International Airport around 8.35 a.m. on Tuesday.
“The 10th flight and last flight departed Malam Aminu Kano International Airport with 508 intending pilgrims at about 8.35 a.m. today, with pilgrims from Ajingi, Gaya, Wudil and Warawa local government areas of the state,’’ he said.
Mr. Badamasi said only the state officials, numbering about
100, were now on ground waiting to be transported to the holy land. He commended the airline for keeping its promise and urged
it to sustain the effort during the return journey from the holy land.
