An explosion erupted inside a  beer parlour that is yet to open along L and K road in Oworonsoki area of  Lagos, yesterday  Sunday, October 11. The explosion occurred around 2.00 pm leaving five people injured including a young girl.

Four people, including a girl, were injured‎ and have been rushed to Afolabi Hospital for treatment, according to the National Emergency Management Agency.

According to an eye witness, then explosion which caused a scare in the Oworonsoki area of Lagos metropolis on Sunday afternoon around 1.05pm, has been traced to a 'leaking refrigerator' in a beer shop attached to a residential building in the area which is located at No. 88, Oworo Road, Oworonsoki, Lagos State. The incident occurred due to excessive heat build-up in the refrigerator ignited by fumes from petroleum products stored in the relaxation centre.
Four persons,  including a six months old baby who were injured in the explosion, were taken to intensive care unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital while three adults who had minor injuries have also been hospitalized at Afolabi hospital close to the scene of the explosion.

It was however learnt that the explosion affected a building next to the beer parlour, but the building is said to pose no danger to the people.

General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Micheal Akindele who spoke on the scene, said the agency can authoritatively link the explosion to a defective refrigerator in the shop.
