The Kitchen is steamed up and red hot, leaving only six
contestants standing. Last week, there was a twist in the master class as
neatness and presentation was important in judging the contestants which left
six contestants standing to battle for a spot in the grand finale of Knorr
Taste Quest season 3.
The competition was intense this week in the semifinals, as
the search for Nigeria’s best was not only subjected to those that can toss,
stir and crumble but those that can shop right for the freshest and best
ingredients. The contestants were given
a budget of 10,000 naira to shop for some ingredients to prepare a three course
meal with compulsory ingredients such as avocado for the starter, banga for the
main course while the dessert must feature tiger-nut and grape fruit.
The contestants who assembled at Shoprite in Ikeja City
Mall, were required to shop for essential ingredients which included red
pumpkin, lettuce heart, ground beef and ginger that will enable them prepare a
starter that could be tossed, a main course they can stir and a dessert that
can be crumbled within a time space of fifteen minutes with a budget of #10, 000. After shopping, they headed to the master kitchen to start the
task for the day.
This got interesting when the judges: Dr. Robert and Chef
Fregz unveiled Crabs full of life as the Secret Ingredient which threw the
contestants in a loop. The expression on their faces was that of fear and
surprise.
After one hour, Davies, Balogun, Victor, Dapo and Tunji
plated all three dishes and apparently did not exceed the ten thousand budget,
but Hauwa who plated just one dish exceeded the amount as she spent the sum of
sixteen thousand naira to shop for all the ingredients she used.
Unfortunately, the judges were not too impressed with the
dishes presented by most of the contestants especially the dessert. However, Tunji amazed the judges with the
taste of his dessert and emerged the winner of the week’s task. He was rewarded
a sum of twenty thousand naira by the Knorr brand.
Meanwhile, Hauwa, the last female in the Kitchen took a
final bow as she was evicted because she exceeded the budget and didn’t plate
all three dishes; the judges however enjoyed every bite of her dish.
The “Master Class” final episode is going to be suspense
filled, exciting, exhilarating, and packed full with thrills. The winner will
be going home with a whooping N5,000,000 cash prize; kitchen equipment and
loads of Knorr bouillon cubes. Knorr Taste Quest is proudly sponsored by
Unilever, Total Gaz and Shoprite.
