Some indications surfaced that President Muhammadu Buhari has
gone back on his decision to fill the position of petroleum minister The presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina hinted this when he
gave the impression that the reversal was
to separate the office of the
President from that of petroleum ministry, Vanguard reports.
Adesina was quoted by Bloomberg on Monday, October 12, as
saying:
“He cannot be president and oil minister at the same time. He will supervise the ministry, so there will be no petroleum minister. Maybe he will appoint a Minister of State.”
However, there are speculations that the reversal of the
decision may be due to threat from some senators who reportedly insisted that
the president must submit himself for screening with other nominees in line
with the constitution.
