President Muhammadu Buhari will hold talks today, January 5th, with the head of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, as he seeks to revive Africa's largest economy, which has been battered by plunging oil prices.
"I look forward to productive meetings ... as they address important economic challenges, most importantly the impact of low oil prices," IMF managing director, Christine Lagarde said in a statement.
She is here to discuss the state of Nigeria’s economy and the IMF’s suggestions for improving it with President Buhari and the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun. The statement gave no other details, but the meeting suggests an acknowledgement of Mr Buhari's efforts to revive the economy of Africa's leading oil producer.
