The vacant positions in a key Federal Government agency will soon be filled as President Muhammadu Buhari is set to announce new individuals to the vacant seats. Speaking during the 'Technology in Government 2016' event which was held at the National Space Research and Development Agency, Obasanjo Space Centre in Abuja, Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to announce the new postmaster general of the federation and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

The event which was organised by the Nigeria Information Technology Professionals in Civil and Public Service, had the theme "Information Technology: The Enabling Tool and Veritable Tool to Deliver Change".

The minister who spoke with journalists at the event, said 47 people applied and that the ministry appointed internationally renowned consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to conduct the interview.

Shittu said: "They were the advisers for the recruitment processes, they ranked people and shortlisted 21 persons. The interview process involved both a written test, computerised test and interview proper.

"At the end of the day, one person will emerge as the postmaster general of Nigeria and that person has been recommended to Mr President."

The minister further revealed that as soon as the president gives approval to the name of the person, then Nigerians will have a new postmaster general. He also assured that his ministry has put so many initiatives in place to ensure that NIPOST operates one of the best postal systems in the world.

It can be recalled that the immediate past postmaster general of the federation and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Postal Service, Mallam Ibrahim Mori Baba retired seven months ago.
