The University Of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State - Nigeria has matriculated a total of 11,003 students for the 2016/2017 academic session (4,000 from UTME, 3,600 from DE and 3,403 students CES Consultancy Programmes.

While speaking the Vice Chancellor of the institution disclosed that a total of 20,175 candidates made the University Of Calabar their first choice and scored 180 and above in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination to qualify for the post utme screening exercise. 

11,500 of them applied for the post utme screening exercise and only about 7,600 candidates were admitted, 4,000 from UTME and 3,600 from DE. 

He advised the new students to take their academic work seriously and work hard to ensure all-round success. 

He reminded them that it is the institution policy that students should record at least 75% attendance at lectures as a condition to write the semester examination.

He equally urged them to syn vices the are likely to jeopardize their stay in the institution.

He also revealed that the school is working to increase its carrying capacity to see that more students are admitted and advised admission seekers against clinging to specific courses which they have made several long unsuccessful attempts over the years to gain admission into.
