A former Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Democratic Party of Nigeria, DPN, Dr. Max Nduaguibe, has revealed why Igbo presidency cannot be actualized under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him, the reason might be because Ndigbo's political agenda which has to do with the restructuring and devolution of power is not in tandem with APC's political objective.
Nduaguibe, was reacting to the calls by Governor Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, for Ndigbo to join APC. According to him, APC has shown it has no agenda for the betterment of Ndigbo as it has not accorded Ndigbo any sense of belonging.
According to him,
“Igbo presidency can’t be actualized under APC, because the party doesn’t believe in restructuring and devolution of power which are the clearly defined political agenda of Ndigbo.
“APC has nothing to offer Ndigbo. We have nothing to show that we are part of the Nigerian project; neither have we been given any sense of belonging in the present government at the national level.
“Governor Okorocha’s call on Ndigbo to embrace APC is coming too late; Igbo leaders presently decamping to APC are doing so for selfish reasons and not to actualize Igbo political agenda because they know it is not possible.
“Rochas Okorocha, Ken Nnamani and their likes cannot be right in pushing Ndigbo into their APC. Ndigbo have a well-defined political agenda which APC and Buhari have ruled out as not part of their concern.
“Ndigbo should not be struggling for political appointments; if it comes, it is only a right not a favour. Ndigbo should not be thankful for any infrastructure sited in Igbo land. We can afford it by ourselves if only Nigeria is restructured.”
