Politicians have besieged the house of Senate President, Bukola Saraki to plead for an overturn of the 6-months suspension of Senator Ali Ndume for making 'false allegations' against his colleagues at the senate.
Following the suspension of former Senate leader, Senator Ali Mohammed Ali Ndume, APC, Borno South by the upper chamber for a period of six months, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has led a delegation to appeal to Senate President Bukola Saraki to have a re- think on the matter.
A source told Saturday Vanguard that with the governor to the Maitama residence of Saraki were the other two Senators from Borno State, Senator Baba Kaka Garbai, APC, Borno Central who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business and Senator Abubakar Kyari, APC, Borno North who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence.
According to the source, also with the governor were members of the House of Representatives from Borno State, representatives of Shehu of Borno, Emir of Dikwa, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Councilors, among others.
The source told Saturday Vanguard that Saraki’s visitors who arrived at 9.30 pm, Thursday night, spent forty minutes with him pleading that the suspension would affect the people of the state and that the national Assembly should have a second look at the matter.
According to the source, the Senate President who was happy over the visit of the governor and all the political stakeholders as well as traditional rulers from the state, was said to have promised that he would look into the matter and come up with what would be favourable to them.
The governor and his delegation were said to have also visited the Senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan to also plead with him on the matter.
