The State Government has commenced the clearing of water channels and drainages across the state to ensure free flow of flood water, especially as the rains set in.
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, disclosed this at Ochanja market, Onitsha, while addressing the traders.
The SSG was on an inspection visit to ascertain how far the contractors handling the job in the area have gone with the assignment.
Professor Chukwulobelu called on Ndi Anambra to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste across the state, especially in water channels to help government achieve its goal of a clean and hygienic environment even as he urged the citizenry to make use of the refuse bins that have been provided by the government at various designated points.
He reiterated the resolve of the state government to ensure that all water channels and drainages in the state are desilted to aid free flow of water throughout the rainy season to forestall any damage that might occur due to flooding, calling for all hands to be on deck to achieve the objective.
