A new political group, John Kayode Fayemi Movement, has criticised campaigns by some Nigerians asking President Muhammadu Buhari to either return to office from his medical trip abroad or resign.
The group argued that the president did not breach any law
by attending to his health after writing to the National Assembly on his
medical vacation and transmitting power to the Acting President, Prof
Yemi Osinbajo, as stated in the Constitution.
In a statement in Ado-Ekiti by its Public Relations Officer, Kunle
Omotayo, the group praised Nigerians for their prayers for the
president, saying that should be the spirit that must propel the action
of every Nigerian.
The statement quoted the Chairman of the group, Ade Kolade, as saying that the current economic recession would soon end, as other countries that witnessed worse economic crises survived their problems and came out stronger.
“Nigeria is not the only country that has passed through this stage. Several countries with worse economic problems survived their problems, and as Nigeria is blessed with honest leadership in President Muhammadu Buhari, all we need is to pray for him for a quick recovery to provide the right and honest leadership to redirect Nigeria to the path of economic recovery and growth,” he said.
