Grand Reception for Governor Willie Obiano at the ongoing 2017 Retreat For Principals of Secondary Schools in Anambra State holding at Madonna Renewal Center, Nkpor.
The governor who arrived in the company of the chairman of Governor Willie Obiano Reelection Campaign Committee, Chief (Dr) Sir Victor Umeh OFR (Ohamadike Ndigbo) and the Chairman of APGA Anambra State chapter, Chief Sir Norbert Obi (Udemba) and was received by the former chairman of APGA Anambra State chapter, Chief Mike Kwentoh (Akunwata) and a host of party faithfuls and government functionaries present.
In her address, the Chairman of Post-Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC) Awka, Lady Joy Ulasi enumerated some notable achievements of Governor Willie Obiano to include:
** Donation of 2(two) Ford Ranger Jeeps to PPSSC for monitoring of the 257 Public /Mission secondary schools in the state
* 200KVA Transformer installed for the PPSSC Headquarters Awka
* 250KVA Generator installed for the PPSSC Headquarters Awka
* Another N150m cash to Anglican Mission Schools in the state
* Another N217m cash to Catholic Mission Schools in the state
* N10m grant to the PPSSC Headquarters for furnishing of office complex
* Provision of N500, 000 cash grant annually to each Public /Mission secondary schools to improve teaching and learning
* 15% increase of Basic salary of all government workers including teachers and payment of additional 20% of the basic salary of teachers posted to hard - to- reach areas to serve as incentives.
* Additional N3,000 each month to all teachers of core subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic Science, English Language and Mathematics.
* N500, 000 grant to each Public /Mission schools for improving schools libraries
* N500, 000 grant to each Public /Mission schools for students Sick Bay.
* Renovation and provision of schools equipment for accrediting 4(four) technical colleges namely GTC Umueri, GTC Nkpor, GTC Umuchu and Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi.
* Recruitment of 70 contract teachers to boost staff strength in technical colleges.
* Fencing of 10 Public /Mission Schools
* Retooling of 60 science laboratories in secondary schools selected from the 3 senatorial zones of the state.
* Free tuition to students of Technical Colleges
* Introduction of additional wears on Wednesdays for all students in Public/Mission secondary schools in the state as well as re-introduction of folklores for students.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Education, Prof (Mrs) Kate Omenugha emphasized that prior to the emergence of Governor Willie Obiano, the performance of the schools in the state were rated at 40% but has risen to 72% under Governor Willie Obiano. She noted that the governor is committed to the general wellbeing of the teachers and the students in the state.
The teachers gathered from the various schools across the state are really overjoyed having the opportunity of expressing their gratitude for the good works of the governor especially for the schools in the state.
They passed a VOTE OF CONFIDENCE on the governor with the hope that his reelection would mean the continuation of the development and successes of the academic institutions in the state.
On his part, the People's Senator for Anambra Central and chief campaigner for the reelection of Governor Willie Obiano, Chief Victor Umeh appreciated the teachers for their commitment to duty stressing that though some persons were already misinforming the people with the claims that the school performance had dropped under the current administration, the state under Governor Willie Obiano has recorded a tremendous increase and the highest in performance.
Governor Willie Obiano charged the teachers to be result oriented, putting their bests in educating the students who are the true pride and future of the state.
The governor however promised the teachers of the increment of the PPSSC monthly subvention from the state government from two fifty thousand naira (N250,000) to four hundred thousand naira (N400, 000). He further announced plans to increase workers salary across board as soon as the 2018 budget is ready.
Ndị Anambra, there's nothing more to be said... Gov Willie Obiano is the people's choice and we must join hands to ensure our state remains in trustable hands.
