1. Nigerians, especially Christian faithful, yesterday joined the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s Christmas.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in Christendom.

2. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South-West, Chief Pegba Otemolu, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to nullify the elections of the party’s National Treasurer and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party.

In his suit marked FHC/ ABJ/CS/ 1284 /2017 and filed on December 23, 2017, Otemolu prayed the court to substitute Adewale with Chief Folorunsho Babalola as the National Treasurer and Bamidele Salam as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary.




3. At least three persons were burnt alive and a woman abducted by Boko Haram militants, who attempted to overran Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Monday- Christmas day.

The persons killed were drivers who are bringing food items to Maiduguri from Biu and were caught up in cross fire at Molai, when the dreaded Boko Haram fighters attacked security post in Molai, in their attempts to make an inroad to the city on Christmas evening.

4. Football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pelé has predicted that Nigeria, African teams can win the World Cup before the end of the 20th century.

Pele believes it is possible for the Super Eagles and other African representatives to claim the World’s biggest football prize.

5. Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is the last president of Nigeria.

Leader of the group, Uchenna Madu, in a statement he personally signed said while politicians work towards 2019 next year, Biafra agitators would be carrying out referendum.

6. Prophet Anene Nwachukwu of Rhema Deliverance Mission, Lagos, has released his prophecies for 2018.

According to him, there will be greater turmoil in the political arena in 2018 months before the 2019 general elections.

7. President Muhammadu Buhari has stirred up a fresh controversy over his real age.

Buhari said on Monday that he thought he was 74 but was told he was 75.





8. Presidential candidates in Nigeria will now spend within one billion naira during campaigns and will end up in jail if they exceed the amount, according to a new proposal by the House of reps.

While governorship candidates will spend not more than N200 million, Senators will be N40m.

9. The Chairman of Innoson Group, Innocent Chukwuma, has broken silence on why he withdrew his fundamental rights enforcement lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement Monday, Mr. Chukwuma explained that he withdrew his fundamental rights enforcement lawsuit against the anti-graft agency after he learnt that the GTBank had allegedly compromised the process.

10. Tayo Aboyebi, South-West Chairman of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), on Monday confirmed that massive loading of petrol was ongoing at different depots in Lagos.

He assured that Nigerians that the current scarcity of fuel would end in the next two days.
