Ekaterina Stetsyuk, a 22-year-old Russian model who jumped from the sixth floor of a hotel room to flee a man who was trying to rape her, was reportedly arrested by the police in Dubai and detained in her hospital bed, after her rapist made a counter claim.
Her alleged rapist, claimed that she attacked him and he acted in self-defense shortly after his detention at the airport, while seeking to flee Dubai.
It was gathered that the model, who was forced to make the plunge after refusing to have sex with the American businessman, survived the huge fall but with severe injuries to her spine. If convicted, the American businessman faces up to 15 years in jail.
Russian channel NTV reported that Ekaterina, was followed by a rich “foreigner” and “refused to be with him. He got angry and attacked Ekaterina, trying to kill her.”
Her mother Inge and friend Irina Gorssman are raising money by crowdfunding to cover the initial £11,000 medical costs in Dubai.
Inge hit back at claims made on social media in Russia that her daughter was working as an escort when the incident took place, and said she had come to Dubai on a month-long contract. The crowdfunder appeal states that Ekaterina has “long and expensive rehabilitation” ahead of her.
It reads:
“We appeal to those who know Ekaterina and just to all sympathetic people.
“Give her a chance to recover.”

Speaking from her hospital bed, Ekaterina recorded a video to reassure her mother, saying:
“I am doing well, do not worry about me.People from the (Russian) consulate visited, I can get in touch with you.
“My surgery was postponed. We’ll see how it goes. All is fine mummy, I love you. Kisses. I have got everything.”

Gocha Buachidze, the Russian Counsel in Dubai, said: “We are thoroughly studying the situation and we are providing all necessary support to her.”
