Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has waded into security hiccups bedevilling some parts of the State lately.

He expressed his decision to reactivate the Joint Task Force after the security situation in the state was analyzed to him.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong who disclosed this in a press statement issued after an enlarged State Exco meeting held on Thursday in government house, Uyo, said the governor would be the chairman of the security council meeting where issues at hand would be extensively discussed and solutions proffered.

He said 30 new utility vehicles have been provided for and distributed to different services for use in combating crimes, adding that the vehicles were the first batch of the 100 vehicles targeted to be delivered to the security agencies for mobility.

Speaking on behalf of the service commanders, the Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme assured the citizens of maximum protection during the Yuletide and beyond and urged them to call the police emergency numbers or the info hot line when there is an incident, instead of resorting to social media.

Meanwhile principal officers of the State legislature led by the Speaker, Aniekan Bassey were present at the meeting as the governor signed the budget of N456.2 billion as amended into law.

The statement reads in parts, “the Governor noted the reports of insecurity in the state and informed that he will be chairing the security council meeting which will extensively deal with the issues at hand and proffer solutions.

“Upon conclusion of the meeting, the Governor presided over the security council meeting attended by all service commanders in the state, where the current security situation in the state was analyzed and the decision to reactivate a Joint Task Force was reached.
