The nine-year prison sentence for sexual assault for former Brazil forward, Robinho, has been upheld in the Milan courts following an appeal, ESPN reports.
The incident happened on January 22, 2013 and involved a 22-year-old Albanian woman.
Robinho was found guilty of committing sexual assault, alongside five other people.
The 36-year-old along with a friend named Ricardo Falco, were sentenced following his role in the sexual assault as part of a group.
Robinho at the time of the incident was playing for AC Milan in Serie A.
In October, Robinho signed for boyhood club Santos, but saw his contract terminated four days later due to public outcry.
During that time, one of Santos’ sponsors ended their link with the Brazilian club “out of respect for women.”
Before joining Milan, Robinho played for Real Madrid and Manchester City and won 100 caps for Brazil, scoring 28 goals.
