Those extorting NIN applicants risk 7-year jail term - NIMC lindaikejisblogThe National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has warned that those extorting National Identification Number (NIN) applicants risk a 7-year jail term.  Citing Sections 14, 20 and 21 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act and Sections 10 and 12 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, the NIMC which stated that the offence is punishable in accordance with the laws also affirmed that the ongoing enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN) is free across the country. Nigerians have been asked to report such cases of extortion for diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others. The tweet read;  “The punishment for extortion if convicted is seven years of imprisonment as stipulated in Sections 14, 20 and 21 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act and Sections 10 and 12 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act. “Report extortion via actu@nimc.gov.ng or call 08157691214 or 08157691071." Those extorting NIN applicants risk 7-year jail term - NIMC lindaikejisblog 1The post Those extorting NIN applicants risk 7-year jail term - NIMC appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
