Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has predicted the outcome of the Champions League last 16 second leg tie between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
The former England International warned that the Spanish side are a team you “can’t ever write off completely” but insisted that the Blues will edge into the Champions League quarter-finals.
The west London Blues have not tasted defeat since January when Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard and hold a 1-0 lead after Olivier Giroud’s spectacular winner in the first leg.
They have also not conceded a single goal in their past five matches.
Ferdinand believes that the solid defence will prove enough to see Chelsea into the quarter-finals of the competition.
“Atletico, you can’t ever write them off completely,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“Tuchel has made Chelsea an impressive defensive unit. But I think under Tuchel, there’s a stiffness. They’re stingy with giving away goals. I think they’ve got a good chance.
“I think Chelsea will go through tomorrow. Just.”
