Chelsea has been handed a significant injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.

Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi, was substituted just at 30 minutes during Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

The England international was replaced by Reece James, and he was later seen with an ice pack and strapping around his left thigh.

And after the match, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, confirmed at his post-match press conference that Hudson-Odoi had picked up a minor injury, adding that the decision to take him off was also a ‘tactical choice’.

“[He was] a little bit injured,” Tuchel said.

“The reason [he was replaced] was a tactical reason and a little injury, a combination, because we switched to a back-five in defence and covered the wide position from [Marcus] Rashford in between [Cesar] Azpilicueta and Reece James.

“In the second half, that was not an option to use Callum there, and that’s why it was a tactical choice.”

However, according to The Daily Star, Hudson-Odoi is winning his race to be fit for Chelsea’s away clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Blues are ‘optimistic’ the 20-year-old will be in contention for the match.
