Sadio Mane has given his Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota a nickname after their 1-0 win against Wolves
Jota scored the decisive winner against his old side Wolves for Liverpool on Monday night.
The win took Jurgen Klopp’s side within five points of the top four, closing the gap on Chelsea who played out a 0-0 draw at Leeds on Saturday.
Jota was on hand to open the scoring as Wolves’ goalkeeper Rui Patricio struggled to keep out his low drive in the first half.
It was Jota’s sixth Premier league strike of the season in 12 games and his ruthless streak in front of goal clearly has not gone unnoticed by his teammates such as Mane.
Mane, who assisted the goal, shed light on Jota’s new nickname, “@diogoj_18 well done Jogoal,” Mane tweeted.
The comments section was also flooded with support from Liverpool fans, with many posting the same thing: “Diogoal Jota”.
The Portuguese appears to have helped the Premier League title holders turn the corner following a three-month lay-off with a knee injury that he picked up in December.
“Special game. Recupera rapido @rpatricio1,” Jota posted on Instagram after the game, sending his well wishes to his compatriot Patricio following his head injury.
