Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has suggested that Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham’s shock Europa League exit from the Europa League to Dinamo Zagreb was because the opposition was taken for granted.

According to the Spaniard, the shock defeat shows the strength of opposition in the competition is still “taken for granted.”

While the Gunners were able to move into the next stages of the Europa League after a 3-2 aggregate win over Olympiacos, their north London rivals, Tottenham crashed out to Croatian side, Dinamo Zagreb.

Mourinho’s side suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat away in Zagreb, giving away a 2-0 lead from the first leg in London.

Mislav Orsic scored a superb hat-trick to send the Premier League side crashing out of the competition.

Reacting to Tottenham’s exit, Arteta told a press conference: “It shows the level of the opposition.

“People take for granted that you play against any opponent and you’re going to be through because of the name of the club they represent. It’s not like that.”

He recalled that Arsenal also suffered an early exit of their own last season with Olympiacos sending them packing in the round of 32 stage.
