Jose Mourinho has said that featuring Dele Alli in Tottenham 1-0 win against Fulham on Thursday was not a gift to the player.
According to him, Alli deserved his place in the starting lineup having worked hard for it.
Tottenham managed a narrow 1-0 win over Scott Parker’s side after Tosin Adarabioyo put Son’s cross inside his own net.
What seemed to be Fulham’s equaliser by Josh Maja was disallowed by VAR for Lemina handball.
Speaking to the press after the game, Mourinho said of Dele Alli, “He deserved to start. It was not a gift. It was a consequence of his work since he came back and is working 100 per cent.
“He was giving us important things. Did very well in the Europa League and very well in every minute he had. He was deserving. We need the squad we have.”
