1. Following a report by the National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno, that the newly appointed Service Chiefs did not meet the funds approved for the procurement of arms upon their resumption of office, the former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai yesterday, said he was not involved in diverting any funds while in office. Buratai made the clarification in a statement signed by his lawyer, Osuagwu Ugochukwu.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday issued a stern warning to would-be terrorists and bandits targeting schools, saying the country will not allow the destruction of the school system. The President said this yesterday in a statement signed by his Spokesman, Garba Shehu.

3. The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, yesterday, assured Nigerians that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine procured by Nigeria is safe. Prof. Baba Issa, Kwara NMA Chairman, gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday.

4. Some soldiers of the Nigerian army were feared ‘critically’ injured when terrorists belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) sect, yesterday, ambushed their convoy in the North East.

5. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday said that his administration would no longer negotiate with or grant amnesty to criminals in the state. The governor stated this at the burial of Dr. Terkura Suswam and his aide, Solomon Tanor at Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of the State.

6. The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, arrived in Nigeria yesterday and pledged the support of her organisation for the growth of the country’s economy. While briefing newsmen in Abuja shortly after her arrival, she stated that she would work to see how Nigeria can adequately benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

7. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Saturday spoke on the farmers-herders crisis, urging state governments to convert unoccupied public land to ranches for herdsmen.

8. Reddington Hospital Lagos, Saturday produced the medical records of some of the patients it treated following the Lekki toll gate ‘shootings’ of last year. One of the hospital’s trauma and orthopaedic surgeons, Dr. Babajide Lawson, presented the case files to the Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution for Victims of SARS and the Lekki toll gate Incident.

9. The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Saturday, insisted on the continuous use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine after several European countries suspended vaccination over blood clot fears. WHO spokeswoman, Margaret Harris, stated this on Saturday while addressing reporters at a briefing in Geneva.

10. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 205 fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The health agency gave the report on Saturday night as part of its daily updates via its official website.
