1. Yesterday was a great day in the Nigerian music industry as two Nigerian singers bagged Grammy Awards. Wizkid’s song with Beyoncé ‘Brown Skin Girl’ won the best music video, while Burna Boy won the award for the Best Global Music Album ‘Twice as Tall’.

2. The Kaduna State Government, yesterday, said bandits stormed Government Science Secondary School, Ikara, Ikara Local Government Area, in an attempt to kidnap students. However, their plot was foiled by the prompt response from the military and other security agencies who repelled them.

3. The Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to resume its suspended strike over non-payment of salaries and alleged victimisation of members. Chairman, University of Ibadan branch of ASUU, Prof. Ayo Akinwole, in a statement on Sunday asked Nigerians to blame the Federal Government if universities are shut down again.

4. Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), on Sunday, alleged that the Nigerian Government earlier frustrated the trial of former Governor, James Ibori, in the United Kingdom. In a statement yesterday, the lawyer narrated how the FG of Nigeria through its Attorney-General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, challenged the investigation of Ibori in the United Kingdom in 2009.

5. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, on Sunday, assured that the ongoing war against Boko Haram will soon be over. Attahiru was in Yobe State yesterday to pay a morale-boosting visit on the troops of Sector 2 Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army in Damaturu.

6. A former militant leader, Asari Dokubo, yesterday, dared President Muhammadu Buhari by proclaiming a Biafran government. In a statement on Sunday, Dokubo declared himself as the leader of the new Biafra defacto Customary Government (BCG).

7. The Sultan of Sokoto and the President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Monday, March 15, as the first day of Sha’aban 1442AH. Abubakar, made the declaration in a statement by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

8. President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, yesterday advised the Igbo to seize the opportunity provided by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to gravitate to the centre of Nigerian politics. Lawan spoke yesterday, during a thanksgiving at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State.

9. Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that the country will surmount the challenges confronting it. Osinbajo gave the assurance at an inter-denominational Church service, held in Owerri on Sunday, as part of activities marking Gov. Hope Uzodinma’s one year in office.

10. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed 120 new cases of COVID-19 in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 160,657.
