Bandits attacked Saketa community of Dingyadi village in Sokoto State on Thursday.
The assailants killed one person and abducted two others.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunusi Abubakar confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Abubakar said the Commissioner of Police, Kamaldeen Okunlola, visited the scene to commiserate with the people.
The command disclosed that a tactical team of policemen had been deployed to rescue the captives.
The spokesman said investigation was ongoing, and assured heightened security.
“We are confident that the issue of banditry will be halted as soon as possible,” Okunlola added.
The attack occurred 24 hours after two relatives of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Bashir Goran, were kidnapped.
