Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has come under heavy criticism following his side’s 5-2 defeat to lowly rated West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Former Chelsea star, Chris Sutton, says the Blues can no longer be seen as top four contenders following the embarrassing defeat.
Tuchel’s 14 games unbeaten start at Chelsea went up in smoke against the relegation threatened Baggies on Saturday.
There were major changes in Tuchel’s lineup for the game with Mason Mount dumped on the bench and it seemed all smooth for the Blues when Christian Pulisic put the Blues ahead in the 26th minute.
However, Thiago Silva got a second yellow card and was dismissed, triggering an astonishing capitulation which led to Chelsea’s heavy home defeat.
Sutton said that the German gaffer was guilty of taking Sam Allardyce’s team too lightly.
The former England International told BT Sport: “I think Thomas Tuchel was guilty of taking West Brom too lightly.
“The likes of Christensen and Rudiger were on the bench, players who have played very well under him.
“We know they have a strong squad but was he looking forward to the game in midweek in the Champions League? I think so.
“They’ve been so watertight under Thomas Tuchel but they just fell to pieces and it’s a worry.
“I actually thought the run they were on, they were a certainty for the top four but not anymore.
“Who could’ve predicted that result today? ‘It’s a worry for Chelsea now and if you’re Spurs, West Ham or Liverpool that result gives you great hope.”
