Juventus manager, Andrea Pirlo, has criticized his players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, after his side’s Serie A derby 2-2 draw against Torino on Saturday.
Pirlo explained that Juventus players suffered lapses in concentration against Torino, adding that they made things hard for themselves against the host.
Federico Chiesa gave Juventus an early lead, but Antonio Sanabria’s double turned the tables.
Ronaldo then equalized for the Bianconeri in the second-half as both teams shared a point each at the Stadio Olimpico Grande.
“Unfortunately, we keep making things hard for ourselves. We started off well and took the lead, but then we let them back in it. We wanted to come out and play a different second half, but we fell behind, and the rest of the match was difficult after that,” Pirlo told a post-match press conference after the game.
“We’re suffering these lapses in concentration a bit too often. We must do better and understand that we can’t lower our guard even for a second. We’ve played lots of games, so it’s natural for a bit of fatigue to creep in, but we can’t let that happen.
“After we equalized, we took control of the game again and hit the post, so we did respond well, but when we’re up against sides that sit in and defend, it’s hard to play through the middle – we have to channel moves down the wings. We need to be a bit patient, keep the ball moving and attack down the flanks.”
Juventus are now in the 4th position on the Serie A table with 56 points from 28 games.Cristiano Ronaldo
