Tottenham Hotspur has identified the manager to replace Jose Mourinho at the club.
According to Sportsmail, Tottenham are targeting a move for Wolves boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, as Mourinho’s replacement should they dispose of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach this summer.
Mourinho will lose his job if he fails to secure Champions League football for Tottenham next season.
The axe is hanging above the head of the Portuguese in the wake of Tottenham’s 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United a few days ago, with a top-four spot looking increasingly unlikely as Chelsea, West Ham, and Liverpool continue to pick up results above them.
Mourinho’s countryman Santo has been earmarked as his successor at Tottenham.
Santo has taken Wolves from a struggling side in the Championship to a stable Premier League team.
He has guided them to back-to-back 7th placed finishes in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.
Meanwhile, It will cost Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, around £8million in compensation to pay Mourinho to leave his contract.
Tottenham have also been linked with Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, and Leipzig’s Julien Nagelsmann.
