Thomas Tuchel has said that Kepa Arrizabalaga will be in goal for Chelsea in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Leicester City.
Kepa was in goal last night when Chelsea lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League but could do little about the goal that won the game for the Gunners.
Jorginho made a woeful back pass to Kepa which almost rolled into the empty Chelsea net with Kepa clawing the ball off the line.
But the loose ball met Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who teed up Emile Smith Rowe to score for the visiting Gunners after 16 minutes.
Tuchel said Kepa was given the chance to pick up some match rhythm ahead of the clash at Wembley this Saturday.
“We thought it was a good idea to give him the game before,” Tuchel told a press conference.
“Because first of all we trust him and he deserves [it]. That is the basis for why we put him in the line-up.
“He deserves it. He is so good in training and we wanted to give him some minutes and take both games together.”
Kepa has started in every previous round of the FA Cup this season.
