1. The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Friday, said the FG was set to prosecute some high-profile Nigerians and businessmen for financing terrorism. Malami disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

2. A policeman, Akinsanya Akingbade, was killed on Friday during a clash between Ileogbo and Iwo communities in Osun State over a parcel of land. The Police Public Relations Officer for the State, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, while confirming the incident.

3. A former Nigerian Minister, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba died yesterday afternoon. President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement on Friday, expressed shock over the death.

4. Family of the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Enoch Adeboye, on Friday, announced the burial arrangement for their late son, Dare. A statement by Adeboye’s Personal Assistant, Leke revealed that the burial rite would begin on May 9.

5. The Supreme Court yesterday declared the dissolution of local government councils in Oyo State as illegal. The Apex court made the declaration in its verdict read by Justice Ejembi Eko.

6. The United States has said there was no plan to relocate its Africa Command from its current base in Germany to Nigeria or any other part of Africa as requested by President Muhammadu Buhari. The US Pentagon spokesperson, Ms Cindi King, said this on Friday.

7. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has kicked off construction work in the Port Harcourt Refinery rehabilitation project. This was contained in a statement on Friday by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Kennie Obateru.

8. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has urged the FG to address the insecurity ravaging the country rather than spending in blackmailing anyone who criticises the present administration. The President, CBCN, Augustine O. Akubeze, advised on Friday in a statement.

9. The Defence Ministry on Friday said the controversial $1 billion released by President Muhammadu Buhari to procure arms was expended on the purpose for which it was released while waiting for the products’ arrival about three years after. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Musa Istifanus stated this yesterday.

10. The Supreme Court on Friday reaffirmed a ruling by the Court of Appeal in support of the deregistration of the National Unity Party (NUP) and 73 others. This was according to a judgement delivered by Justice China Nweze yesterday.
