Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, could be handed his dream shirt number next season, the UK Mirror reports.
Fernandes has worn the number 18 since he arrived from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
The Portugal international picked the number after joining in a £46.6million deal, and has not changed since.
But this summer, he could take his preferred number 8 jersey, with Juan Mata on the verge of leaving.
Mata has been restricted to the role of squad player in recent years, and there is interest in him from abroad.
A return to Spain has been touted, as has a move to play in Major League Soccer.
