Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has narrated how Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, General overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, saved him from death.
Kumuyi, founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministries, turns 80 years old on Sunday, and Bamgbose said the preacher has been his pastor and mentor for 35 years.
“Before 1986, after passing out of secondary school, life was very rough for me,” he told DAILY POST.
“I wanted to be an Accountant but I couldn’t secure admission to a higher institution. I left secondary school in the year 1982, to secure admission was a tug of war.

“I sat for the JAMB Exam 6 times before I got admission to read law in 1988. In the year 1986, I was so depressed and life was becoming meaningless to me.
“I felt there was no need anymore to continue trying. In the process of depressions, I contemplated ending my life because it was filled with failure, sorrow, frustrations, and disappointment There was a day that I decided to bid the world farewell but God intervened.
“However, things were not changing as I expected. Suicide thoughts came over me and I was scheming on how I will carry it out.
“It was in the process of this that a friend of mine invited me to attend a Thursday revival program organized by Deeper Life Bible Church at Gbagada, Lagos. I honored the invitation, it was in May 1986.

“Pastor Kumuyi ministered. I was shocked when during the message, he said ‘you will not die ‘, this I believe he said prophetically.
“I believed the word and accepted Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour. This marked the era of a new beginning in my life.
“Same The same I got admission to the College of Education and later in 1988, I got admission to read law at Lagos State University. The message of the Pastor saved my life.
“Today I give thanks to God for what He is doing in my life. Pastor Kumuyi has been my Mentor and my Pastor.
“I want to encourage our youths not to give up. Suicide is not the solution. I give thanks to God that God has sustained my pastor and Mentor for these 80 years, glory be to God.”
