1. Democracy Day celebration was marred by protests yesterday as Nigerian youths took over the streets in major cities to decry bad governance and insecurity ravaging the entire nation.
2. The FCT Police Command said it successfully dispersed members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN)-Shiites and other groups from taking advantage of the June 12 Democracy Day to embark on protest in the nation’s capital. FCT command Police Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Mariam made this known on Saturday.
3. National leader, Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), Comrade Joseph Evah has warned that unless something serious is done to salvage the present state of insecurity in the country, there may not be any election in 2023. He spoke in an interview yesterday.

6. A human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, yesterday called on the federal government to dialogue with secessionists and agitators across the country. He spoke at the 25th Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) organised by the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA).
7. The Nigerian Army, on Saturday, said thousands of military personnel have been maimed in the fight against Boko Haram. The Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Colonel Stephen Onuchukwu stated this while briefing the Senate delegation.
8. The family of Chief MKO Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, on Saturday, said the Federal Government is yet to fulfil the promises made to the family. The Secretary of the family, Engineer Rahaman Abiola, disclosed this in an interview with journalists.
9. Violence broke out at a mega rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano on Saturday. The rally, organised to welcome former governorship candidate of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), A. A. Zaura and other decampees into the APC, took place at Sabongari area of Kano metropolis.
10. Leaders of the southeast geopolitical zone have said the people are not disposed to the call for secession from Nigeria. They spoke through the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, and Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi shortly after their meeting.
