1. Bandits have released 28 students abducted from the Bethel Baptist Academy along Kaduna-Kachia road in Chikun Local Government Area of the State. Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, Rev. John Hayab, said about 80 students were still held captive by the bandits while the released students will be reunited with their families.
2. The Federal Government has again approved the extension of the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to October 31, the sixth extension since December last year. This was contained in a statement signed by NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Ikechukwu Adinde and NIMC Head of Media Kayode Adegoke.
3. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in Kano State, yesterday, confirmed the death of 18 commuters involved in a ghastly car accident along Gadar Shiburu Riruwai-Doguwa road in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State as a result of a broken bridge. The Sector Commander, Zubairu Mato, said the accident occurred on Friday when a bridge linking Riruwai and Doguwa broke down as a result of the heavy rainfall.
4. The parents of the abducted students of the Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri have organized a special prayer to seek God’s intervention for the release of their children. The prayer session was organized under the auspices of Birnin Yauri and Kambuwa Development Association.
5. The All Progressives Congress (APC), has swept all the 20 chairmanship seats in the Saturday council poll held in Ogun State. The Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Babatunde Osibodu, announced this on Sunday in Abeokuta.
6. The Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Adetunji has sent a delegation to Cotonou, Benin Republic to observe the proceedings of the court case involving Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho. Oba Adetunji stated this yesterday at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan palace.

Yoruba monarchs in Benin Republic have resolved to write the president of the country, Patrice Talon, over the arrest and detention of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, in the country. King Siyan Aladjohoun of Adjohoun who spoke with BBC Yoruba, said the monarchs also considered visiting the country’s President and other government officials.
9. Aloy Ejimakor, the counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, asked IPOB members and other supporters of the separatist to attend the agitator’s trial in Abuja on Monday. He said this in a press statement titled, ‘Security agents must not molest those coming to show solidarity with Kanu’, on Sunday.
10. David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has set a new record as the first African artiste to hit the Atlanta golden spike. The Atlanta golden spike references the ceremonial final spike fixed into a railroad track after it has been laid.
