Arsenal’s hopes of signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan are seemingly dead in the water, Sky Italia reports.
The Serie A club have reportedly ruled out Martinez’s departure, as they prepare to sell Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.
It is believed Lukaku has informed Inter of his desire to return to Stamford Bridge, where he feels he has unfinished business.
The Blues are expected to get the player, should they launch a third bid in excess of £100million.
Lukaku’s strike partner, Martinez, has also been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attack.
Martinez is said to be open to joining the Gunners and Inter were prepared to listen to offers for the 23-year-old given their financial struggles.
However, they are now resigned to losing Lukaku but Martinez will be staying put.
The Nerazzurri’s new head coach, Simone Inzaghi, is unwilling to lose two key attacking players before the transfer deadline.
