Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has revealed why he clashed with Villarreal head coach, Unai Emery during the Europa Super Cup match on Wednesday.
Hakim Ziyech put Chelsea in front in the halftime, but the Yellow Submarines fought back in the second half and equalised through Gérard Moreno and took the game into extra time.
The scoreline remained unchanged after 120 minutes of play leading to a penalty shootout, with Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa, saving two from Emery’s men.
He, however, insisted he had ‘no problem’ with the Spanish gaffer after Chelsea won the game on penalties.
The German hit out at a member of Villarreal’s coaching staff for his over-the-top reaction to Antonio Rudiger’s crunching first-half challenge.
TV cameras captured Tuchel and Emery exchanging words in a heated argument as they headed down the tunnel for the half-time break in Belfast.
Rudiger was shown a yellow card for the robust tackle on Villarreal’s Yeremi Pino and Tuchel soon joined his fellow countryman in the book after remonstrating with referee Sergey Karasev for what he felt was a harsh decision.
But the episode did not finish there, with Tuchel and Emery embroiled in another argument as they headed for their respective dressing rooms.
“With him [Emery], there is no problem,” the Chelsea manager told BT Sport.
“It was somebody on his staff that was a bit too loud.
“But yeah okay, it’s like this. We thought it was an English tackle, they saw it as a foul.”
