The Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Muhammed Babandede has said that any personnel found to have acted unprofessionally would be appropriately sanctioned.
The Immigration boss made the statement in reaction to the reports about a misunderstanding that ensued between some of his personnel at the Oyo State Command office and officials of the Ibadan North Local Government Area on Wednesday.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Immigration Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Amos Okpu on Thursday.
In the press statement, Okpu said the Comptroller General is not happy that a minor misunderstanding that would have been quickly resolved was allowed to degenerate into unnecessary scuffle between two friendly agencies that have
maintained a very cordial relationship over the years.
“The Service at Ibadan North Local Government Council has continued to enjoy excellent neighborliness over the decades thereby making this altercation most unfortunate,” CGI said.
He said The Comptroller General holds the Chairman of the Council and his management team in high esteem and so has ordered an investigation into the unfortunate development.
Babandede used the medium to appeal for calm, stressing that due diligence will be taken to not only ensure amicable resolution of the matter but that any personnel found to have acted unprofessionally would be appropriately sanctioned.
The CGI’ss statement is coming barely a day after a major disagreement at the Nigerian Immigration Service office in Ibadan on Wednesday evening between some Immigration officers and the chairman of the Ibadan North Local government, Shuaib Oladayoalong as well as his supporters.
