The Katsina State government says it may institute a legal action against the Nigerian Customs Service to serve as deterrent against over the reckless killings of people by customs vehicles in the state.
Aminu Bello Masari disclosed this in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday by the state Director General of Media, Labaran Malumfashi.
The Katsina Governor condemned in strong terms the recurring senseless killings of citizens through reckless driving by operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service in the state.
He warned that the government will henceforth not condone any more of such incidents.
The Governor’s position comes in the wake of the recent death of eight people who were crushed by an operative of the Nigerian Customs service driving an official vehicle in Jibia Local Government on Monday, August 9, 2021.
While extending his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries, Governor Masari warned that the government would not fold its arm while law abiding citizens are killed with impunity by reckless government agents who are supposed to protect them.
