Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday, approved the award of contracts for the rehabilitation of Warri and Kaduna refineries to Messrs Saipem SPA and Saipem Contracting Limited at the combined sum of $1.484 billion. The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, disclosed this on Wednesday.

2. Senator Joy Emordi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Emordi who joined the ruling party in Abuja on Wednesday was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

3. Emirates’ flights to and from Nigeria will remain suspended until 15 August 2021, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier, has said. In a travel update posted on its website, Emirates said the suspension is in line with government directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from Nigeria into the UAE.

4. A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the detained 12 associates of Yoruba nation advocate, Sunday Igboho.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a ruling, granted eight of them, whose bail application was not challenged by the DSS for N5 million while the remaining four are to pay N10 million.

5. Justice Ladiean Akintola of Oyo High Court has granted an ex-parte motion restraining the Department of State Security (DSS) and Attorney General of the Federation from arresting, intimidating, harassing, and blocking bank accounts of Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho. The order was granted following an ex-parte motion moved by his lawyer, Chief Yomi Aliu (SAN) at the court on Wednesday.

6. Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is well and healthy. Sanwo-Olu spoke on the sidelines of the inauguration of 102 compactor trucks and 100 double dino bins acquired by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

7. The Federal Government has given reasons it stopped negotiations with kidnappers of students, saying they use the money from ransom to equip and rearm themselves. Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba spoke Wednesday while responding to questions from State House reporters after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

8. Prince Uche Secondus, embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised the alarm over the alleged plot to hijack the party. In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ike Abonyi, his spokesman, Secondus said the structure of the party is about to be hijacked.

9. Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, says he does not know the residence of the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari. Zulum issued the disclaimer via a Facebook post on Wednesday. The statement was titled, ‘Zulum and Shettima did not visit Abba Kyari, aide clarifies’.

10. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it was ready to deal with gunmen killing and maiming people in the South East under the guise of the Eastern Security Network (ESN). In a statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of the group, yesterday, Emma Powerful, IPOB said most of the killings were perpetrated by gunmen masquerading as members of its security outfit.
