Former Chelsea captain, John Terry has said that his old side have put themselves in a position to clinch the Premier League title this season following the resigning of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
He pointed out that the Belgian was the ‘one big one missing’ from the Blues squad last season.
According to the Blues legend, Thomas Tuchel’s side can now challenge champions, Manchester City for the title this season.
Terry, who was part of the Chelsea squad during Lukaku’s first spell at Stamford Bridge, believes that the 28-year-old is the missing piece of the jigsaw for the Blues to clinch league title again.
“I think they’re looking very good, he’s the one big one missing. I know they won the Champions League last season but probably just missed out [on the Premier League] overall because of that, I think bringing him in he kind of gives that, he’s shown that already,” Terry told Sky Sports.
“He’s got something to prove at Chelsea too, it didn’t work out for him last time, I know Rom and he’s very determined to do well. Chelsea are looking great at the minute and I think they can give Manchester City a push.”
Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel had earlier said he was delighted in completing the signing of the Belgium international this summer, adding the 28-year-old will bring a completely different dimension to his squad.
Chelsea finished 4th in the Premier League table last season with Pep Guardiola’s side winning the league title. But the Blues won the Champions League defeating the EPL champions in the final.
