The court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgement in the suit between the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State and one Stephen Wonnah and six others.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Datti Yahaya reserved the judgement after counsels of the APC, N.O Fagbemi (SAN) and Tuduru Edeh ( SAN) and the defendant’s counsel Henry Bello argued on their final written addresses.

One of the counsels to the APC, Chimene Jerome, who disclosed details of the court proceedings on Monday, said the court “after listening to the arguments from the parties, reserved judgement for a later date” to be communicated to the parties.

The APC had after an order by Justice Ben Whyte of the Rivers Rivers State High Court in favour of Stephen Wonnah and six others, restraining Rivers APC from going ahead with its local government and state congresses, approached the Appeal Court which stayed the orders of the High Court and paved the way for the just concluded local government congresses in the State.

The aggrieved APC members had approached Rivers State High Court to stop the congresses for alleged refusal of the party to grant them access to the “nomination forms” for the ward congresses.
