The directive by the Kaduna State Government to all workers, contractors and government functionaries to get vaccinated of COVID-19 on or before October 31, 2021 has instilled fears in the minds of the people.
Sources, who spoke to DAILYPOST on condition of anonymity, wondered why it became mandatory for them to be vaccinated of COVID-19 within a limited period of time.
Though they agreed with the state government on the use of nose masks, they wondered why they had to be injected under compulsion.
One of the workers argued: “there could be hidden ulterior motives behind the directives, within such a short notice.
“Our health is our private issue. We should be left to make decisions on our health without government’s interference. Government cannot dictate to us. We are not kids. At least, some of us are old enough to know what is good for us, our children and immediate families.
“Government’s responsibility is to provide social amenities, safeguard lives and properties, and employment opportunities. But the government abandoned all its responsibilities, only to dictate to us about our health.
“Armed bandits have been terrorising residents of the state daily, what has the Government done to help the poor people in the state?”
“The state government said banditry will reduce if the network providers ceased network work in the worst hit areas of the State, but has that happened?
“Rather, kidnappers always have field days and choose where to go, whom to kidnap, and the amount to pay as ransom. The only effect of the network seizure is that the victims cannot even communicate with their next neighbour when kidnappers come knocking. They cannot communicate with security operatives for rescue. It’s too bad,” he said.
He pleaded with the State government to rescind its decision as many were having a sleepless night over the directive.
