The Nigerian military says intelligence report indicates the plot to carry out an “evil plan” in Plateau State.
Operation SAFE HAVEN Information Officer, Major Ishaku Takwa raised the alarm in a statement on Thursday.
The spokesman said there were attempts to disrupt peace and security during the local government election scheduled for Saturday.
The military warned “evil minded individuals and merchants of violence to shelve their evil plan”.
Ishaku noted that troops were ready to deal decisively with those bent on causing crisis before, during and after the poll.
He vowed that never again will the Armed Forces allow individuals or groups to foist pain on law-abiding citizens.
Ishaku announced that the Commander, Major General Ibrahim Ali had ordered the arrest of anyone found fermenting trouble.
The statement urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, parents and guardians to warn their subjects and children against violence.
“Any action short of unity and peaceful coexistence would be viewed as deliberate plan to frustrate the effort of troops and will be dealt with”, Ishaku added.
